Unlike the other wedding
arrangements (Music, flower arrangements, cake), photographs aren't things you
can hear, smell or taste or even see at first - you don't really know until you
get the final output. That means you need to do careful research and have to be
selective regarding professional skills, artistic style while choosing your
photographer.
Step 1: Decide your style
Before hunting for photographers, you'll need to first decide what type of photography style you prefer. Do any of the following appeal to you?
Before hunting for photographers, you'll need to first decide what type of photography style you prefer. Do any of the following appeal to you?- DocumentaryThis kind of photography style is in trend. These are candid or spontaneous pictures of people, action, decoration. You will very rarely see people staring at the camera ( the photos capture the moments exactly as they happened).- PortraitureThese are posed shots in front of various backdrops with your better half, your friends, relatives and family. Creativity in such photographs totally depends upon the professional photographer and it results into the best pictures.
There are other type of photography styles too such as Edgy and Bold, Fine Art etc, which would be suggested by the photographer to you. In Fine Art style, the object/couple is in focus and background appears to blur. In films, these kind of shoots are trendy and usually shoot in black and white. The photos are dramatic and gorgeous in this style. Edgy and bold style is marked by tilted angles and unconventional framing.
Step 2: Explore Listings & Reviews
Explore various websites/listings of photographers. Checkout their reviews. Portfolio, facebook/instagram pages, respond time, what their client says about them etc.
Step 3: Set up Meeting
You cannot take decision by just viewing the portfolio, rating/reviews. You need to meet
your photographer in person and discuss your ideas on how you can make this
memorable.
Step 4: Confirm your professional
Every professional has a different style, technique and personality so you need to make sure if the photographer is same with whom you meet on wedding day because large studios have more than one photographer in their staff. Sometimes it is good to mention equipments such as camera, lens (if you know) to the photographer. If number of guests are more than you need to make sure that you hire two shooters so that your photographers make sure to capture the event
from all angles.
Step 5: Compare and Choose Package
You need to compare all packages from different professional photographers and choose the best one as per your requirement. Check what all you are getting in specific packages for how much time. You need to compare the work hours, pricing and go with the one suits you best.
Step 6: Know the Post Production Details
Editing and printing of albums takes time as photographer is shooting enormous raw files and it gives your photographer greater ability to generate best output. These files are heavy in size and thus take long time to upload. So you need to ask questions such as Will the pictures to be of high resolution? How many images to be delivered? Is their any extra charges for special editing? if yes
then what will be the cost etc.
